1. INDIA EXTENDS INDIA SEMICONDUCTOR MISSION 2.0 –

• The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) was approved by the Union Cabinet in December 2021 with an outlay of ₹76,000 crore. By May 2026, the mission had approved 12 semiconductor manufacturing and packaging projects with investments of around ₹1.64 trillion.

India Semiconductor Mission 2.0

• The second phase of the mission is under consideration for an extension from 5 years to as long as 12 years. The proposed extension is linked to longer investment and development timelines in the semiconductor sector.

Funding and Incentive Structure

• ISM 2.0 is expected to have a higher outlay, with estimates of nearly ₹1.5 trillion. The first phase of the mission had an initial incentive package of $10 billion. The incentive support for semiconductor fabrication, OSAT, and ATMP units may be reduced to 30% from 50% in the first phase.

भारत ने इंडिया सेमीकंडक्टर मिशन 2.0 का विस्तार किया –

• इंडिया सेमीकंडक्टर मिशन (आईएसएम) को केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने दिसंबर 2021 में ₹76,000 करोड़ के परिव्यय के साथ मंजूरी दी थी। मई 2026 तक, मिशन ने लगभग ₹1.64 ट्रिलियन के निवेश के साथ 12 सेमीकंडक्टर विनिर्माण और पैकेजिंग परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी दी थी।

इंडिया सेमीकंडक्टर मिशन 2.0

• मिशन के दूसरे चरण के विस्तार पर विचार किया जा रहा है, जिसे 5 साल से बढ़ाकर 12 साल तक किया जा सकता है। प्रस्तावित विस्तार सेमीकंडक्टर क्षेत्र में लंबे निवेश और विकास समय-सीमा से जुड़ा है।

वित्तपोषण और प्रोत्साहन संरचना

• आईएसएम 0 का परिव्यय लगभग ₹1.5 ट्रिलियन होने का अनुमान है। मिशन के पहले चरण में 10 अरब डॉलर का प्रारंभिक प्रोत्साहन पैकेज था। सेमीकंडक्टर फैब्रिकेशन, ओएसएटी और एटीएमपी इकाइयों के लिए प्रोत्साहन सहायता पहले चरण में 50% से घटाकर 30% की जा सकती है।

 

2. IAS OFFICER SAURABH VIJAY TAKES CHARGE AS CEO OF UIDAI –

• Senior IAS officer Shri. Saurabh Vijay has officially assumed the charge as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). He is a 1998 batch Maharashtra cadre officer and will bring the extensive administrative experience from both the state and central government roles.

• Shri. Saurabh Vijay took the charge as the new CRO of UIDAI on 18th of May, 2026.
• He will take the India’s most crucial digital governance leadership roles
• UIDAI manages the Aadhaar which is the world’s largest biometric identity program.

Who Is Saurabh Vijay?

• Saurabh Vijay is the senior Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1998 Maharashtra cadre.
• He has built a long administrative career across the multiple departments.

आईएएस अधिकारी सौरभ विजय ने यूआईडीएआई के सीईओ का कार्यभार संभाला –

• वरिष्ठ आईएएस अधिकारी श्री सौरभ विजय ने भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (यूआईडीएआई) के नए मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (सीईओ) के रूप में आधिकारिक तौर पर कार्यभार ग्रहण कर लिया है। वे महाराष्ट्र कैडर के 1998 बैच के अधिकारी हैं और राज्य और केंद्र सरकार दोनों में अपने व्यापक प्रशासनिक अनुभव का लाभ उठाएंगे।

सौरभ विजय ने यूआईडीएआई के सीईओ के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला

• श्री सौरभ विजय ने 18 मई, 2026 को यूआईडीएआई के नए सीआरओ के रूप में कार्यभार ग्रहण किया।
• वे भारत की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण डिजिटल गवर्नेंस नेतृत्व भूमिकाओं में से एक का नेतृत्व करेंगे।
• यूआईडीएआई आधार का प्रबंधन करता है, जो विश्व का सबसे बड़ा बायोमेट्रिक पहचान कार्यक्रम है।

सौरभ विजय कौन हैं?

• सौरभ विजय 1998 बैच के महाराष्ट्र कैडर के वरिष्ठ भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा अधिकारी हैं।
• उन्होंने विभिन्न विभागों में लंबा प्रशासनिक करियर बनाया है।

 

3. PRAGATI 2026 MILITARY EXERCISE BEGINS IN MEGHALAYA –

• PRAGATI 2026, a multinational military exercise, began in Meghalaya on 20 May 2026. The two-week exercise is being held at Umroi Military Station near Shillong and involves armed forces personnel from 13 countries.

Participating Countries

• India is hosting 12 partner nations in PRAGATI 2026. The participating countries are Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

Exercise Focus and Terrain

• PRAGATI 2026 focuses on joint counter-terrorism operations in jungle and semi-mountainous terrain. The exercise includes training for coordinated action in difficult terrain conditions that are common in parts of the North-East region of India.

मेघालय में प्रगति 2026 सैन्य अभ्यास शुरू –

• बहुराष्ट्रीय सैन्य अभ्यास प्रगति 2026, मेघालय में 20 मई 2026 को शुरू हुआ। दो सप्ताह तक चलने वाला यह अभ्यास शिलांग के पास उमरोई सैन्य स्टेशन में आयोजित किया जा रहा है और इसमें 13 देशों के सशस्त्र बलों के जवान भाग ले रहे हैं।

भागीदार देश

• भारत प्रगति 2026 में 12 भागीदार देशों की मेजबानी कर रहा है। भाग लेने वाले देश भूटान, कंबोडिया, इंडोनेशिया, लाओस, मलेशिया, मालदीव, म्यांमार, नेपाल, फिलीपींस, सेशेल्स, श्रीलंका और वियतनाम हैं।

अभ्यास का उद्देश्य और भूभाग

• प्रगति 2026 का मुख्य उद्देश्य जंगल और अर्ध-पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों में संयुक्त आतंकवाद-विरोधी अभियान चलाना है। इस अभ्यास में भारत के उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्र के कुछ हिस्सों में आम तौर पर पाई जाने वाली कठिन भूभाग स्थितियों में समन्वित कार्रवाई के लिए प्रशिक्षण शामिल है।

 

4. MAHARASHTRA BECOMES NO.1 STATE IN CENTRAL GOVERNMENT PROJECTS ACROSS INDIA –

• India is witnessing rapid infrastructure growth through major central government projects spread across different states. These projects include highways, railways, airports, industrial corridors, energy plants, ports, and urban development initiatives. Recent data shows that Maharashtra leads the country in the number of central government projects, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
• Maharashtra has emerged as the leading state with 215 central government projects worth around ₹5.5 trillion. The state’s strong industrial ecosystem, financial importance, port connectivity, and urban infrastructure make it a major destination for government investment.

महाराष्ट्र पूरे भारत में केंद्रीय सरकारी परियोजनाओं में नंबर 1 राज्य बना –

• भारत में विभिन्न राज्यों में फैली प्रमुख केंद्रीय सरकारी परियोजनाओं के माध्यम से बुनियादी ढांचे का तीव्र विकास हो रहा है। इन परियोजनाओं में राजमार्ग, रेलवे, हवाई अड्डे, औद्योगिक गलियारे, ऊर्जा संयंत्र, बंदरगाह और शहरी विकास पहल शामिल हैं। हालिया आंकड़ों से पता चलता है कि केंद्रीय सरकारी परियोजनाओं की संख्या में महाराष्ट्र देश में सबसे आगे है, उसके बाद उत्तर प्रदेश और आंध्र प्रदेश का स्थान है।
• महाराष्ट्र लगभग ₹5.5 ट्रिलियन की 215 केंद्रीय सरकारी परियोजनाओं के साथ अग्रणी राज्य के रूप में उभरा है। राज्य का मजबूत औद्योगिक पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र, वित्तीय महत्व, बंदरगाह कनेक्टिविटी और शहरी बुनियादी ढांचा इसे सरकारी निवेश के लिए एक प्रमुख गंतव्य बनाता है।

 

5. SHRAMMITRA APP LAUNCHED IN HARYANA TO REPLACE TRADITIONAL LABOUR CHOWK SYSTEM –

• The Haryana government has officially launched the ShramMitra mobile application, it is a digital initiative aimed at making worker hiring faster, simpler and more transparent.
• The app has been developed by the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
• According to the Labour Minister Anil Vij, this platform will create a direct communication channel between employers and workers, reducing delays, confusion and dependence on the informal hiring networks.
• The initiative is being positioned as the major labour market reform.

हरियाणा में पारंपरिक श्रम चौक प्रणाली को बदलने के लिए श्रममित्र ऐप लॉन्च किया गया –

• हरियाणा सरकार ने आधिकारिक तौर पर श्रममित्र मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन लॉन्च किया है। यह एक डिजिटल पहल है जिसका उद्देश्य श्रमिकों की भर्ती को तेज, सरल और अधिक पारदर्शी बनाना है।
• यह ऐप हरियाणा भवन एवं अन्य निर्माण श्रमिक कल्याण बोर्ड द्वारा विकसित किया गया है।
• श्रम मंत्री अनिल विज के अनुसार, यह प्लेटफॉर्म नियोक्ताओं और श्रमिकों के बीच सीधा संवाद स्थापित करेगा, जिससे देरी, भ्रम और अनौपचारिक भर्ती नेटवर्क पर निर्भरता कम होगी।
• इस पहल को श्रम बाजार में एक महत्वपूर्ण सुधार के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया जा रहा है।
