1. PUNJAB DECLARES THREE HISTORIC SIKH SITES AS HOLY CITIES –

• Punjab has passed a resolution to declare the Amritsar Walled City, Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo as holy cities, marking a major cultural and governance decision aligned with the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
• The decision bans the sale and consumption of liquor, meat, tobacco, and other intoxicants in the designated holy areas. These places also hold religious significance in Sikh history, hosting three of the five Takhts.
• Takhts: A Takht, which means a throne, is a seat of temporal authority for Sikhs. There are five Sikh Takhts, three in Punjab and one each in Maharashtra and Bihar.
• Akal Takht in Amritsar, Punjab: Established in 1606 by Guru Hargobind, is the highest seat of Sikh authority and represents the union of miri (temporal power) and piri (spiritual authority).
• Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib (Anandpur Sahib, Punjab): Site where the Khalsa was created in 1699.
• Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo, Punjab): Where Guru Gobind Singh finalised Sikh scripture.
• Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib (Patna, Bihar): Birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh.
• Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib (Nanded, Maharashtra): Site of Guru Gobind Singh final days and cremation in 1708.

पंजाब ने तीन ऐतिहासिक सिख स्थलों को पवित्र नगर घोषित किया –

• पंजाब ने अमृतसर चारदीवारी, आनंदपुर साहिब और तलवंडी साबो को पवित्र नगर घोषित करने का प्रस्ताव पारित किया है, जो गुरु तेग बहादुर की 350वीं शहादत वर्षगांठ के उपलक्ष्य में एक प्रमुख सांस्कृतिक और प्रशासनिक निर्णय है।
• इस निर्णय से इन पवित्र क्षेत्रों में शराब, मांस, तंबाकू और अन्य नशीले पदार्थों की बिक्री और सेवन पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया है। ये स्थान सिख इतिहास में धार्मिक महत्व भी रखते हैं, क्योंकि यहाँ पाँच तख्तों में से तीन स्थित हैं।
• तख्त: तख्त, जिसका अर्थ सिंहासन होता है, सिखों के लिए लौकिक अधिकार का स्थान होता है। पाँच सिख तख्त हैं, जिनमें से तीन पंजाब में और एक-एक महाराष्ट्र और बिहार में है।
• अमृतसर, पंजाब में अकाल तख्त: 1606 में गुरु हरगोबिंद द्वारा स्थापित, सिख सत्ता की सर्वोच्च सीट है और मिरी (अस्थायी शक्ति) और पीरी (आध्यात्मिक सत्ता) के मिलन का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है।
• तख्त श्री केशगढ़ साहिब (आनंदपुर साहिब, पंजाब): वह स्थान जहां 1699 में खालसा की स्थापना हुई थी।
• तख्त श्री दमदमा साहिब (तलवंडी साबो, पंजाब): जहां गुरु गोबिंद सिंह ने सिख धर्मग्रंथ को अंतिम रूप दिया।
• तख्त श्री हरिमंदिर जी पटना साहिब (पटना, बिहार): गुरु गोबिंद सिंह का जन्मस्थान।
• तखत सचखंड श्री हजूर साहिब (नांदेड़, महाराष्ट्र): 1708 में गुरु गोबिंद सिंह के अंतिम दिनों और दाह संस्कार का स्थल।

 

2. INDIA, BRAZIL, AND SOUTH AFRICA (IBSA) FORUM-

• On the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, India’s Prime Minister met with the Brazilian and South African President to discuss strengthening the IBSA (India-Brazil-South Africa) forum.
• The meeting focused on climate-resilient agriculture, digital innovation, UN reforms, terrorism, and Global South initiatives.

What is the IBSA Forum?

• About: IBSA is a unique forum of India, Brazil, and South Africa, three large democracies and major economies from three continents facing similar challenges.
• Formalized as the IBSA Dialogue Forum on 6 June 2003 in Brasilia, issuing the Brasilia Declaration. South Africa is the current IBSA Chair.
• IBSA does not have a headquarters or a permanent secretariat.
• Areas of Cooperation: Cooperation in IBSA is on 3 fronts:
• Political consultation: Coordination on global and regional political issues.
• Trilateral collaboration: Joint projects through working groups and People-to-People Forums.
• Assistance to other developing countries: Projects implemented through the IBSA Fund.
• IBSA Trust Fund: Established in 2004, operational from 2006 for poverty and hunger alleviation.
• Allocated USD 53.27 million to 46 South-South development projects in 34 partner countries, mostly Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
• IBSAMAR: Joint multinational maritime exercise among India, Brazil, and South Africa navies. 8th edition held in October 2024 off the coast of South Africa.
• Initiatives Proposed in 2025: India’s PM proposed a National Security Advisers-level Dialogue for regular security and counter-terrorism consultations among the three countries.
• He also suggested an IBSA Fund for Climate-Resilient Agriculture and a Digital Innovation Alliance to share UPI, CoWIN, and cybersecurity frameworks.

• जोहान्सबर्ग में जी-20 शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान, भारत के प्रधानमंत्री ने ब्राज़ील और दक्षिण अफ़्रीकी राष्ट्रपति के साथ मिलकर इब्सा (भारत-ब्राज़ील-दक्षिण अफ़्रीका) मंच को मज़बूत करने पर चर्चा की।
• बैठक में जलवायु-अनुकूल कृषि, डिजिटल नवाचार, संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुधार, आतंकवाद और वैश्विक दक्षिण पहलों पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया।

इब्सा मंच क्या है?

• विषय: इब्सा, भारत, ब्राज़ील और दक्षिण अफ़्रीका का एक अनूठा मंच है, जो तीन महाद्वीपों के तीन बड़े लोकतंत्रों और प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्थाओं के साथ समान चुनौतियों का सामना कर रहे हैं।
• 6 जून 2003 को ब्रासीलिया में इब्सा संवाद मंच के रूप में औपचारिक रूप से स्थापित, ब्रासीलिया घोषणा जारी की गई। दक्षिण अफ़्रीका वर्तमान में इब्सा का अध्यक्ष है।
• इब्सा का कोई मुख्यालय या स्थायी सचिवालय नहीं है।
• सहयोग के क्षेत्र: आईबीएसए में सहयोग तीन मोर्चों पर है:
• राजनीतिक परामर्श: वैश्विक और क्षेत्रीय राजनीतिक मुद्दों पर समन्वय।
• त्रिपक्षीय सहयोग: कार्य समूहों और लोगों से लोगों के मंचों के माध्यम से संयुक्त परियोजनाएँ।

3. ANDHRA PRADESH TO GET 3 NEW DISTRICTS; TOTAL RISES TO 29

• The government of Andhra Pradesh has approved the creation of three additional districts, increasing the total number of districts in the state from 26 to 29. The decision — cleared by N. Chandrababu Naidu on behalf of the state — also includes the formation of five new revenue divisions and a new mandal, reshaping the administrative map for better governance and local access to civic services.

आंध्र प्रदेश को 3 नए ज़िले मिलेंगे; कुल संख्या बढ़कर 29 हुई

• आंध्र प्रदेश सरकार ने तीन अतिरिक्त ज़िलों के निर्माण को मंज़ूरी दे दी है, जिससे राज्य में ज़िलों की कुल संख्या 26 से बढ़कर 29 हो जाएगी। राज्य की ओर से एन. चंद्रबाबू नायडू द्वारा मंज़ूरी दिए गए इस निर्णय में पाँच नए राजस्व प्रभाग और एक नए मंडल का गठन भी शामिल है, जो बेहतर प्रशासन और नागरिक सेवाओं तक स्थानीय पहुँच के लिए प्रशासनिक मानचित्र को नया रूप देगा।

4. INDIA-NEPAL JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE SURYAKIRAN-XIX BEGINS IN PITHORAGARH –

• The 19th edition of the India–Nepal joint military exercise, Exercise SURYAKIRAN-XIX – 2025, began on November 25, 2025, in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. This edition of the annual bilateral exercise will continue until December 8, 2025, aiming to enhance operational coordination and strategic understanding between the two neighbouring countries.

Equal Representation from Both Armies

• This year, both India and Nepal have deployed 334 personnel each, showcasing equal participation and commitment to regional defence cooperation,
• The Indian Army is represented primarily by troops from the ASSAM Regiment.
• The Nepal Army contingent features troops from the DEVI DATTA Regiment.
• This bilateral setup reinforces the long-standing historical and military ties between the two nations.

 

भारत-नेपाल संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास सूर्यकिरण-XIX पिथौरागढ़ में शुरू –

• भारत-नेपाल संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास का 19वां संस्करण, सूर्यकिरण-XIX – 2025, 25 नवंबर, 2025 को उत्तराखंड के पिथौरागढ़ में शुरू हुआ। वार्षिक द्विपक्षीय अभ्यास का यह संस्करण 8 दिसंबर, 2025 तक जारी रहेगा, जिसका उद्देश्य दोनों पड़ोसी देशों के बीच परिचालन समन्वय और रणनीतिक समझ को बढ़ाना है।

दोनों सेनाओं का समान प्रतिनिधित्व

• इस वर्ष, भारत और नेपाल दोनों ने 334-334 कर्मियों को तैनात किया है, जो क्षेत्रीय रक्षा सहयोग में समान भागीदारी और प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाता है।
• भारतीय सेना का प्रतिनिधित्व मुख्य रूप से असम रेजिमेंट के सैनिक कर रहे हैं।

5. ROHIT SHARMA NAMED TOURNAMENT AMBASSADOR FOR ICC MEN’S T20 WORLD CUP 2026 –

• In a move that celebrates cricketing excellence and legacy, Rohit Sharma has been named the official tournament ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The prestigious event will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March 2026.

• Rohit’s selection as ambassador reflects his immense contribution to the shortest format of the game,
• Two-time T20 World Cup winner – part of India’s victorious campaigns in 2007 and 2024.
