1. DECLINE IN INDIA’S TOTAL FERTILITY RATE –

• The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2021 has revealed a steep decline in India’s Total Fertility Rate (TFR) over the decades.
• India’s Fertility Trends: India’s TFR dropped from 6.18 in the 1950s to 1.9 in 2021, below the replacement level of 2.1. By 2100, the TFR in India is projected to fall further to 1.04 (barely one child per woman).
• Regional Variations in India: Southern states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka achieved replacement-level fertility earlier than northern states.
• By 2036, Kerala’s aged population is expected to surpass children (23%). High labor wages, quality of life, and internal migration are expected to bring migrant labor to 60 lakh by 2030 (about one-sixth of the State’s population).
• The demographic shift was driven by high literacy, women’s empowerment, and advances in social and health sectors.

भारत की कुल प्रजनन दर में गिरावट –

• ग्लोबल बर्डन ऑफ डिजीज, इंजरी और रिस्क फैक्टर्स स्टडी (जीबीडी) 2021 ने पिछले दशकों में भारत की कुल प्रजनन दर (टीएफआर) में भारी गिरावट का खुलासा किया है।
• भारत की प्रजनन प्रवृत्तियाँ: भारत की टीएफआर 1950 के दशक में 18 से गिरकर 2021 में 1.9 हो गई, जो 2.1 के प्रतिस्थापन स्तर से नीचे है। 2100 तक, भारत में टीएफआर के और गिरकर 1.04 (प्रति महिला बमुश्किल एक बच्चा) होने का अनुमान है।
• भारत में क्षेत्रीय विविधताएँ: केरल, तमिलनाडु और कर्नाटक जैसे दक्षिणी राज्यों ने उत्तरी राज्यों की तुलना में पहले प्रतिस्थापन-स्तर की प्रजनन क्षमता हासिल की।
• 2036 तक, केरल की वृद्ध आबादी बच्चों (23%) से अधिक हो जाने की उम्मीद है। उच्च श्रम मजदूरी, जीवन की गुणवत्ता और आंतरिक प्रवास के कारण 2030 तक प्रवासी श्रमिकों की संख्या 60 लाख (राज्य की आबादी का लगभग छठा हिस्सा) हो जाने की उम्मीद है।
• जनसांख्यिकीय बदलाव उच्च साक्षरता, महिला सशक्तिकरण और सामाजिक और स्वास्थ्य क्षेत्रों में प्रगति से प्रेरित था।

 

2. NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY 2025 –

• National Girl Child Day is observed annually on 24th January aimed at promoting the rights, empowerment, and potential of girls across India.
• Theme: “Empowering Girls for a Bright Future” emphasizes equal opportunities for girls in education, healthcare, and personal growth.
• Beginning: It was started in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to combat critical issues such as child marriage and female foeticide.
• Celebrating 10 Years of BBBP: The 2025 National Girl Child Day celebrations, marking the 10th anniversary of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, will run from 22nd January to 8th March 2025, concluding on International Women’s Day.

राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस 2025 –

• राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 24 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है जिसका उद्देश्य पूरे भारत में लड़कियों के अधिकारों, सशक्तिकरण और क्षमता को बढ़ावा देना है।
• थीम: “उज्ज्वल भविष्य के लिए लड़कियों को सशक्त बनाना” शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य सेवा और व्यक्तिगत विकास में लड़कियों के लिए समान अवसरों पर जोर देता है।
• शुरुआत: इसे 2008 में महिला और बाल विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा बाल विवाह और कन्या भ्रूण हत्या जैसे गंभीर मुद्दों से निपटने के लिए शुरू किया गया था।
• बीबीबीपी के 10 साल पूरे होने का जश्न: बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढ़ाओ (बीबीबीपी) योजना की 10वीं वर्षगांठ के उपलक्ष्य में 2025 का राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस समारोह 22 जनवरी से 8 मार्च 2025 तक चलेगा, जिसका समापन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस पर होगा।

 

3. CCPA INVESTIGATES OLA AND UBER OVER ALLEGED DIFFERENTIAL PRICING PRACTICES –

• The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to ride-hailing companies Ola and Uber, investigating claims of differential pricing based on users’ mobile operating systems.
• Reports suggest that iPhone users are charged higher fares than Android users for identical rides. Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, has directed the CCPA to probe these allegations, emphasizing the need to protect consumer rights and ensure fair trade practices.

सीसीपीए ने कथित भिन्न मूल्य निर्धारण प्रथाओं पर ओला और उबर की जांच की –

• केंद्रीय उपभोक्ता संरक्षण प्राधिकरण (सीसीपीए) ने उपयोगकर्ताओं के मोबाइल ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम के आधार पर भिन्न मूल्य निर्धारण के दावों की जांच करते हुए राइड-हेलिंग कंपनियों ओला और उबर को नोटिस जारी किए हैं।
• रिपोर्ट बताती हैं कि आईफोन उपयोगकर्ताओं से समान सवारी के लिए एंड्रॉइड उपयोगकर्ताओं की तुलना में अधिक किराया लिया जाता है। केंद्रीय उपभोक्ता मामलों के मंत्री प्रहलाद जोशी ने सीसीपीए को इन आरोपों की जांच करने का निर्देश दिया है, जिसमें उपभोक्ता अधिकारों की रक्षा करने और निष्पक्ष व्यापार प्रथाओं को सुनिश्चित करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया गया है।

 

4. WHO HAS PRESENTED BUDGET THE MOST NUMBER OF TIMES –

• On February 1, 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will create history by presenting her eighth consecutive Union Budget, making her the first finance minister in India’s parliamentary history to achieve this milestone.
• The upcoming budget for the financial year (FY) 2025-26 will be another significant contribution to the economic framework of the nation. Let us delve into the records, history, and evolution of India’s Union Budgets, highlighting Sitharaman’s record-breaking feat and exploring other notable milestones in the history of India’s financial statements.

सबसे ज़्यादा बार बजट किसने पेश किया है –

• 1 फरवरी, 2025 को वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण लगातार आठवां केंद्रीय बजट पेश करके इतिहास रचेंगी, जिससे वह भारत के संसदीय इतिहास में यह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाली पहली वित्त मंत्री बन जाएँगी।
• वित्तीय वर्ष (FY) 2025-26 के लिए आगामी बजट राष्ट्र के आर्थिक ढांचे में एक और महत्वपूर्ण योगदान होगा। आइए हम भारत के केंद्रीय बजट के रिकॉर्ड, इतिहास और विकास पर नज़र डालें, सीतारमण की रिकॉर्ड-तोड़ उपलब्धि पर प्रकाश डालें और भारत के वित्तीय विवरणों के इतिहास में अन्य उल्लेखनीय मील के पत्थरों की खोज करें।

 

5. JITENDER PAL SINGH APPOINTED AS INDIA’S NEW AMBASSADOR TO ISRAEL –

• On January 24, 2025, the Government of India announced the appointment of Jitender Pal Singh as the next Ambassador to Israel. An Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 2002 batch, Singh is currently serving in the office of the External Affairs Minister and has previously led the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran division within the Ministry of External Affairs since 2020.
• Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan (2014-2019): During this tenure, he was instrumental in managing India’s diplomatic relations with Pakistan.
• Posting in Kabul (2008-2012): Singh served in Afghanistan during a period when the Indian embassy faced two major terror attacks, providing him with firsthand experience in crisis management.

जितेन्द्र पाल सिंह को इज़राइल में भारत का नया राजदूत नियुक्त किया गया –

• 24 जनवरी, 2025 को भारत सरकार ने जितेन्द्र पाल सिंह को इज़राइल में अगला राजदूत नियुक्त करने की घोषणा की। 2002 बैच के भारतीय विदेश सेवा (आईएफएस) अधिकारी, सिंह वर्तमान में विदेश मंत्री के कार्यालय में कार्यरत हैं और इससे पहले 2020 से विदेश मंत्रालय के भीतर पाकिस्तान-अफगानिस्तान-ईरान प्रभाग का नेतृत्व कर चुके हैं।
• पाकिस्तान में उप उच्चायुक्त (2014-2019): इस कार्यकाल के दौरान, उन्होंने पाकिस्तान के साथ भारत के राजनयिक संबंधों के प्रबंधन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।
• काबुल में पोस्टिंग (2008-2012): सिंह ने उस अवधि के दौरान अफगानिस्तान में सेवा की, जब भारतीय दूतावास को दो बड़े आतंकवादी हमलों का सामना करना पड़ा, जिससे उन्हें संकट प्रबंधन में प्रत्यक्ष अनुभव प्राप्त हुआ।
