  1. NAGASAKI DAY 2026: HISTORY, IMPACT, SIGNIFICANCE AND GLOBAL EFFORTS –
  • This Nagasaki Day 2026 will be observed on 9th August to honour the victims of the atomic bomb dropped on the city of Nagasaki towards the end of World War II and to draw attention to the terrible humanitarian impact of nuclear weaponry. On 9th August, 1945, an atomic bomb code named Fat Man was dropped by the United States on Nagasaki which had been bombed at Hiroshima three days before. It resulted in a huge loss of life and destruction and constituted the second and last nuclear attack ever used in war.

What is Nagasaki Day?

  • Nagasaki Day is celebrated every year on 9th August in memory of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki in 1945.
  • It is largely a day of remembrance. It is a tribute to the victims who lost their lives and recognition of the suffering endured by the survivors to raise awareness about the catastrophic impact of nuclear warfare.
  • Memorial activities in Nagasaki consist of gatherings of survivors along with representatives from all walks of life and from all over the world.

What Happened in Nagasaki on August 9, 1945?

  • On August 9, 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped by the US forces on Nagasaki in the World War II.
  • The atomic bomb was named as Fat Man and it consisted of an implosion-type nuclear weapon with a plutonium core and an explosive power of 21 kilotons of TNT.
  • The bomb was delivered to its target on a B-29 Superfortress bomber named Bockscar which was piloted by Major Charles W. Sweeney.

 

नागासाकी दिवस 2026: इतिहास, असर, महत्व और वैश्विक प्रयास –

  • नागासाकी दिवस 2026, 9 अगस्त को मनाया जाएगा। यह दिन दूसरे विश्व युद्ध के आखिर में नागासाकी शहर पर गिराए गए परमाणु बम के पीड़ितों को श्रद्धांजलि देने और परमाणु हथियारों से होने वाले भयानक मानवीय असर की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित करने के लिए मनाया जाता है। 9 अगस्त, 1945 को अमेरिका ने नागासाकी पर ‘फैट मैन’ कोड-नाम वाला परमाणु बम गिराया था; इससे तीन दिन पहले हिरोशिमा पर बमबारी की गई थी। इसके परिणामस्वरूप भारी जान-माल का नुकसान हुआ और यह युद्ध में इस्तेमाल किया गया दूसरा और आखिरी परमाणु हमला था।

नागासाकी दिवस क्या है?

  • नागासाकी दिवस हर साल 9 अगस्त को 1945 में नागासाकी पर हुए परमाणु हमले की याद में मनाया जाता है।
  • यह मुख्य रूप से याद करने का दिन है। यह उन पीड़ितों को श्रद्धांजलि है जिन्होंने अपनी जान गंवाई और उन लोगों के दुख को पहचानने का दिन है जो बच गए थे, ताकि परमाणु युद्ध के विनाशकारी असर के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाई जा सके।
  • नागासाकी में स्मारक कार्यक्रमों में बचे हुए लोग और जीवन के सभी क्षेत्रों व दुनिया भर के प्रतिनिधि इकट्ठा होते हैं।

9 अगस्त, 1945 को नागासाकी में क्या हुआ था?

  • 9 अगस्त, 1945 को दूसरे विश्व युद्ध के दौरान अमेरिकी सेना ने नागासाकी पर परमाणु बम गिराया था।
  • परमाणु बम का नाम ‘फैट मैन’ था और यह प्लूटोनियम कोर वाला एक इम्प्लोजन-टाइप (अंदर की ओर फटने वाला) परमाणु हथियार था, जिसकी विस्फोटक शक्ति 21 किलोटन TNT के बराबर थी।
  • बम को उसके लक्ष्य तक ‘बॉक्सकार’ (B-29 सुपरफोर्ट्रेस बॉम्बर) नाम के विमान से पहुँचाया गया था, जिसे मेजर चार्ल्स डब्ल्यू. स्वीनी उड़ा रहे थे।

 

  1. QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT DAY 2026: THEME, HISTORY, SIGNIFICANCE AND WHY AUGUST 8 IS IMPORTANT-
  • Quit India Movement Day in 2026 is observe on August 8th as a tribute to one of the most impactful movements in the India’s independence journey. The Quit India Movement is also referred to as August Kranti Diwas or August Movement, which was started in the year 1942 led by Mahatma Gandhi and issued a historical Do or Die slogan.
  • This movement called for an immediate end to the rule of Britain in India. Despite the fact that the movement was met with severe repression from the British Government through arresting many people, the movement was able to prove the Indian people’s determination to gain their independence. This was achieved with the help of participation of students, workers, peasants, women and common people in the movement.

Quit India Movement Day 2026 Date

  • The Quit India Movement Day is observed on 8th August, 2026. It marks the beginning of the Quit India Movement on August 8, 1942, at the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
  • There is no official theme is yet announced by the Government of India for Quit India Movement Day in 2026. The event will be dedicated to the commemoration of the sacrifice of freedom fighters and the celebration of the ideals of freedom, unity, democracy and patriotism.

भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन दिवस 2026: थीम, इतिहास, महत्व और 8 अगस्त क्यों महत्वपूर्ण है-

  • भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन दिवस 2026, 8 अगस्त को मनाया जाता है। यह भारत की आज़ादी की यात्रा के सबसे प्रभावशाली आंदोलनों में से एक को श्रद्धांजलि देने के लिए मनाया जाता है। भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन को ‘अगस्त क्रांति दिवस’ या ‘अगस्त आंदोलन’ भी कहा जाता है। इसकी शुरुआत 1942 में महात्मा गांधी के नेतृत्व में हुई थी और उन्होंने ऐतिहासिक ‘करो या मरो’ (Do or Die) का नारा दिया था।
  • इस आंदोलन ने भारत में ब्रिटिश शासन को तुरंत खत्म करने की मांग की। हालांकि ब्रिटिश सरकार ने कई लोगों को गिरफ्तार करके इस आंदोलन को बुरी तरह दबाने की कोशिश की, फिर भी यह आंदोलन आज़ादी पाने के लिए भारतीय लोगों के दृढ़ संकल्प को साबित करने में सफल रहा। यह आंदोलन में छात्रों, मज़दूरों, किसानों, महिलाओं और आम लोगों की भागीदारी से संभव हुआ।

भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन दिवस 2026 की तारीख

  • भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन दिवस 8 अगस्त, 2026 को मनाया जाता है। यह 8 अगस्त, 1942 को ऑल इंडिया कांग्रेस कमेटी (AICC) के बॉम्बे अधिवेशन में भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन की शुरुआत का प्रतीक है।
  • भारत सरकार ने अभी तक भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन दिवस 2026 के लिए कोई आधिकारिक थीम घोषित नहीं की है। यह कार्यक्रम स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के बलिदान को याद करने और आज़ादी, एकता, लोकतंत्र और देशभक्ति के आदर्शों का जश्न मनाने के लिए समर्पित होगा।

 

  1. UPI CHARGES BILL 2026 PASSED BY LOK SABHA: WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR UPI USERS ? –

What Is the New UPI Charges Bill?

  • The proposed legislation amends the current legislation regarding charges on digital payments.
  • Under the amendment, the Central Government has the power to prescribe which payment systems and transactions can remain free while which transactions would be liable to charges.
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will continue to regulate the payment systems and ensure the enforcement of rules.
  • The important thing about the bill is that it only makes it possible to impose UPI charges and does not impose the charges on all UPI transactions.

Who Will Be Affected by UPI Charges?

  • Small Shopkeepers and Street Vendors: May remain immune to charges subject to the final guidelines
  • Big Retailers and Online Platforms: May face MDR charges or others subject to being notified
  • Students and Salaried Individuals: Transfer from one individual to another is likely to remain free
  • Banks and Payment Service Providers: May get an additional revenue stream from transactions
  • Fintech Platforms: The firms running UPI may stand to gain from permissible charges

 

लोकसभा द्वारा UPI शुल्क बिल 2026 पारित: UPI यूज़र्स के लिए इसका क्या मतलब है?

नया UPI शुल्क बिल क्या है?

  • प्रस्तावित कानून डिजिटल भुगतान पर शुल्क से संबंधित मौजूदा कानून में संशोधन करता है।
  • संशोधन के तहत, केंद्र सरकार के पास यह तय करने का अधिकार है कि कौन से भुगतान सिस्टम और ट्रांज़ैक्शन मुफ़्त रहेंगे और किन ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर शुल्क लगेगा।
  • भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक (RBI) भुगतान सिस्टम को रेगुलेट करना और नियमों का पालन सुनिश्चित करना जारी रखेगा।
  • इस बिल की खास बात यह है कि यह केवल UPI शुल्क लगाने की संभावना बनाता है, न कि सभी UPI ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर शुल्क लगाता है।

UPI शुल्क से कौन प्रभावित होगा?

  • छोटे दुकानदार और सड़क किनारे सामान बेचने वाले: फ़ाइनल गाइडलाइंस के आधार पर इन्हें शायद चार्ज से छूट मिल सकती है।
  • बड़े रिटेलर और ऑनलाइन प्लेटफ़ॉर्म: नोटिफ़िकेशन के आधार पर इन्हें MDR चार्ज या दूसरे चार्ज देने पड़ सकते हैं।
  • स्टूडेंट्स और सैलरी पाने वाले लोग: एक व्यक्ति से दूसरे व्यक्ति को पैसे ट्रांसफर करना शायद मुफ़्त ही रहेगा।
  • बैंक और पेमेंट सर्विस प्रोवाइडर: ट्रांज़ैक्शन से उन्हें अतिरिक्त कमाई का ज़रिया मिल सकता है।
  • फ़िनटेक प्लेटफ़ॉर्म: UPI चलाने वाली कंपनियों को तय चार्ज से फ़ायदा हो सकता है।

 

  1. PRAGGNANANDHAA WINS SAINT LOUIS RAPID & BLITZ 2026 –
  • The young Indian grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa gave a dominating display to take the crown at the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz 2026 Grand Chess Tour event.
  • The 20-year-old Indian scored 23.5 points out of 36 and won the championship 1.5 points clear of Javokhir Sindarov of Uzbekistan. Praggnanandhaa had already sealed the title a round early by drawing with Sindarov in the penultimate round of the event.
  • The triumph fetched him $50,000 and 13 Grand Chess Tour points that will make him stronger in the battle for the 2026 GCT Finals.

प्रज्ञानंद ने सेंट लुइस रैपिड एंड ब्लिट्ज़ 2026 जीता –

  • युवा भारतीय ग्रैंडमास्टर आर. प्रज्ञानंद ने सेंट लुइस रैपिड एंड ब्लिट्ज़ 2026 ग्रैंड चेस टूर इवेंट में शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए खिताब जीता।
  • 20 वर्षीय भारतीय खिलाड़ी ने 36 में से 5 अंक हासिल किए और उज्बेकिस्तान के जावोखिर सिंदारोव से 1.5 अंक आगे रहकर चैंपियनशिप जीती। प्रज्ञानंद ने इवेंट के आखिरी से पहले राउंड में सिंदारोव के साथ ड्रॉ खेलकर एक राउंड पहले ही खिताब पक्का कर लिया था।
  • इस जीत से उन्हें $50,000 और 13 ग्रैंड चेस टूर पॉइंट मिले, जिससे 2026 GCT फ़ाइनल की दौड़ में उनकी स्थिति और मजबूत होगी।

 

  1. AIR INDIA APPOINTS TEWOLDE GEBREMARIAM AS NEW CEO –

Air India Names New CEO

  • Air India has officially named Mr. Tewolde Gebremariam as its new CEO, he will replace Campbell Wilson, who had to step down from the position in the year 2026 after guiding Air India in its stabilization and integration phase.
  • The Tata Group has described Gebremariam as an individual with experience in the management of large airline operations and organizational transformations and setting up globally competitive aviation infrastructure.

According to Air India, he brings the following skills,

  • Airline operations management
  • Transformation of culture and organization
  • Setting up of global aviation hubs
  • Expansion of MRO capability
  • Development of aviation training infrastructure
  • Operational efficiencies and safety standard improvements

एयर इंडिया ने टेवोल्डे गेब्रेमारियम को नया CEO नियुक्त किया –

एयर इंडिया ने नए CEO का नाम घोषित किया

  • एयर इंडिया ने आधिकारिक तौर पर श्री टेवोल्डे गेब्रेमारियम को अपना नया CEO नियुक्त किया है। वे कैंपबेल विल्सन की जगह लेंगे, जिन्होंने एयर इंडिया को उसके स्थिरीकरण और एकीकरण के दौर में आगे बढ़ाने के बाद 2026 में पद छोड़ दिया था।
  • टाटा समूह ने गेब्रेमारियम को एक ऐसे व्यक्ति के रूप में बताया है जिनके पास बड़े एयरलाइन ऑपरेशन्स और संगठनात्मक बदलावों के प्रबंधन तथा विश्व स्तर पर प्रतिस्पर्धी एविएशन इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर स्थापित करने का अनुभव है।
