1. OUTLOOK OF INDIAN ECONOMY –

• The Reserve Bank of India’s article titled “State of the Economy” offers a cautiously optimistic view of the Indian economy, amid global and trade-related uncertainties.

What is India’s Present State of the Economy-

• Inflation: Retail inflation (measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell from 5.4% in 2023–24 to 2.1% in June 2025, the lowest since January 2019.
• In June 2025, core inflationrose to 4.4% due to costlier personal care, education, and recreation, while overall inflation eased more sharply in rural (1.7%) than urban areas (2.6%).
• Balance of Payments: India recorded a current account surplus of 1.3% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Q4 2024–25.
• India’s Current Account Deficit  narrowed to 0.7% of GDP in FY24.
• Fiscal Developments: Gross fiscal deficit (GFD) stood at 0.8% of its 2025-26 budget estimates, a significant improvement from 3.1% in 2024-25
• Till May 2025, the Centre received 21% of Budget Estimates (BE) 2025-26 of Total Receipts. Total expenditure stood at 14.7% of FY26 BE, with a notable focus on capital expenditure.
• Trade Performance: India’s overall trade deficit narrowed nearly 30% in May 2025, mainly due to falling oil prices and strong services exports.

 

भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था का दृष्टिकोण –

• भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक का “अर्थव्यवस्था की स्थिति” शीर्षक वाला लेख वैश्विक और व्यापार संबंधी अनिश्चितताओं के बीच भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था के बारे में एक सतर्क और आशावादी दृष्टिकोण प्रस्तुत करता है।

भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था की वर्तमान स्थिति क्या है-

• मुद्रास्फीति: खुदरा मुद्रास्फीति (उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक (CPI) द्वारा मापी गई) 2023-24 में 4% से गिरकर जून 2025 में 2.1% हो गई, जो जनवरी 2019 के बाद सबसे कम है।
• जून 2025 में, महंगी व्यक्तिगत देखभाल, शिक्षा और मनोरंजन के कारण कोर मुद्रास्फीति बढ़कर 4% हो गई, जबकि समग्र मुद्रास्फीति शहरी क्षेत्रों (2.6%) की तुलना में ग्रामीण (1.7%) में अधिक तेज़ी से कम हुई।
• भुगतान संतुलन: भारत ने 2024-25 की चौथी तिमाही में सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (GDP) का 3% चालू खाता अधिशेष दर्ज किया।
• वित्त वर्ष 24 में भारत का चालू खाता घाटा घटकर GDP का 7% रह गया।
• राजकोषीय विकास: सकल राजकोषीय घाटा (GFD) 2025-26 के बजट का 8% रहा। अनुमानों के अनुसार, 2024-25 के 3.1% से उल्लेखनीय सुधार
• मई 2025 तक, केंद्र को कुल प्राप्तियों के बजट अनुमान (बीई) 2025-26 का 21% प्राप्त हुआ। कुल व्यय वित्त वर्ष 2026 के बीई का 7% रहा, जिसमें पूंजीगत व्यय पर उल्लेखनीय ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया।
• व्यापार प्रदर्शन: मई 2025 में भारत का समग्र व्यापार घाटा लगभग 30% कम हो गया, जिसका मुख्य कारण तेल की गिरती कीमतें और मजबूत सेवा निर्यात था।

 

2. WHAT ARE BHISHM CUBES ? –

• India recently gifted two BHISHM cubes to the Maldives on its 60th Independence Day. This gesture marks India’s regional cooperation and healthcare diplomacy in the Indian Ocean. The BHISHM cubes are portable medical units designed for rapid emergency response. They enhance disaster preparedness in vulnerable island nations like the Maldives.

BHISHM Initiative and Its Purpose

• BHISHM stands for Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita & Maitri. It is part of India’s Aarogya Maitri mission launched in 2024. The initiative aims to provide timely healthcare support in disaster-hit and developing countries. The cubes are self-contained medical units ready for quick deployment in emergencies and conflict zones.

भीष्म क्यूब्स क्या हैं? –

• भारत ने हाल ही में मालदीव को उसके 60वें स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर दो भीष्म क्यूब्स उपहार में दिए। यह भाव हिंद महासागर में भारत के क्षेत्रीय सहयोग और स्वास्थ्य सेवा कूटनीति का प्रतीक है। भीष्म क्यूब्स पोर्टेबल चिकित्सा इकाइयाँ हैं जिन्हें त्वरित आपातकालीन प्रतिक्रिया के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है। ये मालदीव जैसे कमजोर द्वीपीय देशों में आपदा तैयारी को बढ़ाते हैं।

भीष्म पहल और इसका उद्देश्य

• भीष्म का अर्थ है भारत स्वास्थ्य पहल सहयोग, हित और मैत्री। यह 2024 में शुरू किए गए भारत के आरोग्य मैत्री मिशन का हिस्सा है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य आपदाग्रस्त और विकासशील देशों में समय पर स्वास्थ्य सेवा सहायता प्रदान करना है। ये क्यूब स्व-निहित चिकित्सा इकाइयाँ हैं जो आपात स्थितियों और संघर्ष क्षेत्रों में त्वरित तैनाती के लिए तैयार हैं।

 

3. INDIA’S GIG ECONOMY GROWTH –

• India’s gig economy has expanded rapidly in recent years. By FY 2024–25, gig workers numbered about 12 million, up from 7.7 million in 2020–21. This sector now comprises over 2% of the total workforce. Growth is driven by digital connectivity, urbanisation, and a shift towards flexible work. This change marks a structural shift in India’s labour market.

Defining Gig Workers

• Gig workers are individuals earning income without formal employment benefits. They include cab drivers, food delivery personnel, home cleaners, and other service providers working through digital platforms.
• Unlike traditional informal workers, gig workers operate in a semi-structured system where tasks and payments are documented. This formalisation brings transparency and some recognition to their work.

 

भारत की गिग अर्थव्यवस्था का विकास –

• हाल के वर्षों में भारत की गिग अर्थव्यवस्था का तेजी से विस्तार हुआ है। वित्त वर्ष 2024-25 तक, गिग श्रमिकों की संख्या लगभग 12 मिलियन हो गई, जो 2020-21 में 7 मिलियन थी। यह क्षेत्र अब कुल कार्यबल का 2% से अधिक है। विकास डिजिटल कनेक्टिविटी, शहरीकरण और लचीले काम की ओर बदलाव से प्रेरित है। यह परिवर्तन भारत के श्रम बाजार में एक संरचनात्मक बदलाव का प्रतीक है।

गिग श्रमिकों की परिभाषा

• गिग श्रमिक वे व्यक्ति होते हैं जो औपचारिक रोजगार लाभों के बिना आय अर्जित करते हैं। इनमें कैब चालक, भोजन वितरण कर्मी, घरेलू सफाईकर्मी और डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म के माध्यम से काम करने वाले अन्य सेवा प्रदाता शामिल हैं।
• पारंपरिक अनौपचारिक श्रमिकों के विपरीत, गिग श्रमिक एक अर्ध-संरचित प्रणाली में कार्य करते हैं जहाँ कार्यों और भुगतानों का दस्तावेजीकरण किया जाता है। यह औपचारिकता उनके कार्य में पारदर्शिता और कुछ मान्यता लाती है।

 

4. INDIA’S FIRST HINDI-MEDIUM MBBS COLLEGE TO OPEN –

• In a landmark step towards promoting regional language education in medical studies, Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh is set to become home to India’s first Hindi-medium MBBS college. The institution, expected to commence in the 2027–28 academic session, will offer medical education, examinations, and clinical training entirely in Hindi, making it a historic move in the country’s medical education system.

The Historic Decision

Approval in University Executive Council Meeting

• The proposal to set up the Hindi-medium MBBS college was approved in the executive council meeting of Madhya Pradesh Medical University. Officials confirmed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will soon be prepared and submitted to the state government for final clearance.
• Once approved at the state level, the project will be forwarded to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for mandatory permissions.

भारत का पहला हिंदी माध्यम एमबीबीएस कॉलेज खुलेगा –

• चिकित्सा अध्ययन में क्षेत्रीय भाषा शिक्षा को बढ़ावा देने की दिशा में एक ऐतिहासिक कदम के रूप में, मध्य प्रदेश का जबलपुर भारत का पहला हिंदी माध्यम एमबीबीएस कॉलेज बनने जा रहा है। यह संस्थान, जिसके शैक्षणिक सत्र 2027-28 में शुरू होने की उम्मीद है, चिकित्सा शिक्षा, परीक्षाएँ और नैदानिक प्रशिक्षण पूरी तरह से हिंदी में प्रदान करेगा, जिससे यह देश की चिकित्सा शिक्षा प्रणाली में एक ऐतिहासिक कदम होगा।

ऐतिहासिक निर्णय

विश्वविद्यालय कार्यकारिणी परिषद की बैठक में अनुमोदन

• मध्य प्रदेश आयुर्विज्ञान विश्वविद्यालय की कार्यकारिणी परिषद की बैठक में हिंदी माध्यम एमबीबीएस कॉलेज स्थापित करने के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दी गई। अधिकारियों ने पुष्टि की कि जल्द ही एक विस्तृत परियोजना रिपोर्ट (डीपीआर) तैयार की जाएगी और अंतिम मंजूरी के लिए राज्य सरकार को प्रस्तुत की जाएगी।
• राज्य स्तर पर अनुमोदन मिलने के बाद, परियोजना को अनिवार्य अनुमति के लिए राष्ट्रीय चिकित्सा आयोग (एनएमसी) को भेजा जाएगा।

 

5. FRANCE TO RECOGNISE PALESTINIAN STATE IN 2025 –

• France has announced it will officially recognise the State of Palestine in September 2025. This decision marks the first time a G7 nation will grant formal recognition. The announcement is expected to be made during the UN General Assembly session in New York. French President Emmanuel Macron emphasised the urgent need to end the war in Gaza, secure humanitarian aid, and achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East.

Context of Recognition

• France’s recognition follows escalating conflict in Gaza after Hamas’s attack on Israel in October 2023. Macron called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and demilitarisation of Hamas.
• He stressed the importance of rebuilding Gaza and ensuring the viability of a Palestinian state that accepts Israel’s security. Palestinian leaders welcomed the move as support for their right to self-determination. Israel and its key allies, including the US and the UK, strongly opposed the decision.

 

फ्रांस 2025 में फ़िलिस्तीनी राज्य को मान्यता देगा –

• फ्रांस ने घोषणा की है कि वह सितंबर 2025 में फ़िलिस्तीन राज्य को आधिकारिक रूप से मान्यता देगा। यह निर्णय पहली बार है जब कोई G7 देश औपचारिक मान्यता प्रदान करेगा। यह घोषणा न्यूयॉर्क में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा सत्र के दौरान होने की उम्मीद है। फ्रांसीसी राष्ट्रपति इमैनुएल मैक्रों ने गाजा में युद्ध को समाप्त करने, मानवीय सहायता सुनिश्चित करने और मध्य पूर्व में स्थायी शांति स्थापित करने की तत्काल आवश्यकता पर बल दिया।

मान्यता का संदर्भ

• अक्टूबर 2023 में इज़राइल पर हमास के हमले के बाद गाजा में बढ़ते संघर्ष के बाद फ्रांस ने यह मान्यता दी है। मैक्रों ने तत्काल युद्धविराम, बंधकों की रिहाई और हमास के विसैन्यीकरण का आह्वान किया।
• उन्होंने गाजा के पुनर्निर्माण और इज़राइल की सुरक्षा को स्वीकार करने वाले एक फ़िलिस्तीनी राज्य की व्यवहार्यता सुनिश्चित करने के महत्व पर बल दिया। फ़िलिस्तीनी नेताओं ने आत्मनिर्णय के अपने अधिकार के समर्थन के रूप में इस कदम का स्वागत किया। इजराइल और अमेरिका तथा ब्रिटेन सहित उसके प्रमुख सहयोगियों ने इस निर्णय का कड़ा विरोध किया।
