What is a Bank PO?
Bank PO or Probationary Officer works as a manager in a bank but on a probation period and that probabtion period solely depends upon the bank which recuits them.Bank PO job is the first step to enter in banking industry. Every one is aware of the banks as we have seen them around us but the only thing that we are unaware of is how banks work and how to get the job in banks.
Bank PO profile includes the designation of Assistant Manager(AM) on Probation. He is considered as a Junior Management Grade-1(JMG-Scale1) officer and most of the times known as Scale 1 officer or Assistant Manager.
Who conducts PO exam?
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection(IBPS) conducts exam for PO. IBPS is the leading entity that is providing its services in all the public sector banks SBI, RBI, NABARD, LIC, and insurance companies and the regular members of the IBPS society.
Every year IBPS releases notifications for the posts of Bank PO and accepts online application through its official website. This exams is conducted at various locations all around the India and only in online mode. Bank PO exam conducted for 27 public sector banks and Regioanl Rural Banks(RRBs).

Pattern for Bank PO prelims exam
PO prelims exam is conducted for a total duration of 1 hour and 20 minutes are scheduled for each section and conducted only in online mode. Prelims exam has 3 sections for 100 questions and a maximum score of 100. There is also provision of negative marking of 0.25 marks(1/4th of the total marks allotted for one question). Every question is of one mark.

Pattern for Mains exam
Mains exam is having five sections with a total score of 200+25 marks and total duration of 180+30 minutes. For the post of PO IBPS is also conductiong Descriptive exam. For the post of PO a candidate has to clear both preliminary and mains which follows descriptive exam.

Interview
Those who qualify the mains exam are eligible for the interview which is of 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview is 40%(for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates it is for 35%)
Inteview for the bank PO lasts for 15-20 minutes that is carried out by bank officials. Topics that are covered in the interview are related to banking sector, current affairs, general awareness,economy etc.
The final selection is based on the scores of mains and interview with weightage of marks in the ratio 80:20. Clearing preliminary exam does not mean that the candidate is selected as a PO he/she have to clear the mains exam and interview ,the marks of preliminary exam are to get into the mains exam and have no weightage in the selection process for the post of PO.
