Selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.

Results of the candidates who qualify for Main Examination and Group Exercise & Interview as well as the final select list will be made available on the Bank’s website.

HOW TO APPROACH THE EXAM

As per the latest notification of SBI PO 2019, there have been many changes in the pattern of both SBI PO Preliminary and Mains Examination.

As there is nothing mentioned in the advertisement about the sectional cut-off so, selection will be purely on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the examination. So, as far as the competition is concerned, we need some strategy on how to approach the exam to get better marks:-

  1. Quantitative Aptitude: As there will be sectional timing we have only 20 minutes to score in this section therefore, we should focus on those topics, which are easy to solve and take less time, so, that we can score better marks. So, in this section, we should focus more on number series, approximation/Simplification, quadratic equation, Data Interpretation as these topics takes less time with good accuracy. By solving above mentioned topics, one can nearly cover 25 marks out of 35 marks in time span of 15 to 17 minutes.

For the rest of time try to attempt questions from your strong topic Eg. Ratio, Percentage, Time & work, Ages as these topics can be easily solved. By following this strategy, one can attempt nearly 25-30 questions easily in just 20 minutes. For mains, try to focus more on Basics and Data interpretation question of arithmetic part, as these questions covered more than 50% of the section and after that try to focus more on data sufficiency and quadratic equations.

  1. Logical Reasoning: For prelims exam, focus on inequalities, sitting arrangement, input output (as expected) and Puzzles, as only puzzle and seating arrangement part covers around 20-25 marks out of 35. In mains, we can expect 0 to 5 questions from computer aptitude (high level) and 40 to 45 questions from reasoning especially puzzles, sitting arrangement, input output etc. So prepare for the prelim only till June and then there will be sufficient time to prepare for the computer aptitude section after the prelims.
  2. General Economy & Banking Awareness: This topic is part of mains examination but this section is the biggest game changer of mains result, if a person score well in this section there will be the more chances that he/she will get selected. So Keep in touch with daily current affairs specifically the financial updates. After the prelim exam prepare for last 4 to 5 months current affairs and banking awareness. There will be 40 questions for 40 marks, this section is considered to be the differential section. A student can score 30 to 35 marks in the stipulated time with the organized study plan.
  3. English Language: If we observe the recent trends, this section has seen a steep rise in the difficulty level of the exam. In prelim we expect to have 10 questions from Comprehension, 5questions from cloze test, 5 from grammatical errors or sentence improvement, 5 from sentence connectors. So keep solving more and more comprehensions and read the Hindu Editorials to improve the command over English language. In mains also the difficulty level is very high and we need to prepare accordingly. Out of 35 questions in mains exam we can expect 2 comprehensions of 15-20 marks (including vocabulary questions). 5 para jumbles, 5 cloze test and 5 errors. So again here the focus is on comprehension. But practise as much as possible and do more and more reading for better performance in this section.
  4. Descriptive Test: Keep yourself updated with the latest pattern of essay and letter writing. Also as we have to type the essay and letter get yourself used to normal settings of the document. Need not to go for typing course. Its test basic understanding and writing skills not of typing skills. But still need to have an average typing speed to attempt this section in 30 minutes. Sometime we take this section casually but it’s very essential section and the scoring difference is quite high.

Personality Test: The GD & Interview will take place after 10th July so after mains exam there will be sufficient time to prepare for the GD & Personal Interview.
